"Rushcutters - living off it's past reputation!"

A review of The Rushcutters by Andy written on Saturday 21st of August 2010

Having been a regular customer of the Rush Cutters over the years we decided that again as a family we would ignore the poor recent reviews and my most recent visit to have a meal on a Thursday evening.

After arriving and finding our table we asked for the 2 courses for £9.95 menu from the waitress as advertised on their website. Response - "oh we don't do that menu during the summer because we're busy enough we dont' have to!"

OK well don't advertise it then!

After mediocre food and a delay of 30 minutes waiting for desert and then another 20 minutes going by without them clearing the plates we went directly to the bar and paid the bill without seeing the waitress after waiting for another 10 minutes at the table while people finished their drinks.

I sent an email to the pub chain higlighting this was unacceptable and received a call from the manageress this morning explaining why they didn't do the meal deal and when it would be starting again.

She basically apologised and tried to get me to sign up to their email club in order we could get details of future offers which I declined explaining that I was a regular enough customer to know what was being offered.

I explained I was expecting an offer of a discount or partial refund for the £30 extra we ended up paying as they didn't have the deal to which she refused saying they only had it on their site because it was a blanket offer from the brewery that didn't apply to them.

The sheer arrogance of her reply when I said I'd offered her the chance to rectify the situation before yet another bad review was posted on the internet - her response - "oh well we don't read any of those" my reply well actually I think you'll find a lot of people do!!

So there we have it, I'm not sure if this is a recent management change but our family and friends won't be visiting again any time soon which is a shame as we've been going for over 20 years and this isn't the way to treat loyal returning customers.

As the title says - they seem to be relying too much on their location which is nice and their past reputation which is no longer applicable!!.
