Holidaying in Norfolk arrived 2 Aug 08 for 1 week.

This pub came highly recommended by owner of accomodation. How very disappointed we were!

Attempted to eat at the Race Course 3 times without much sucess.

1st meal (party of 4) meal was satisfactory after a 6 hour drive! Was advise by the staff to come back for their exeptional Cavery as this was to die for?? Yes of starvation!!

2nd meal arrived at pub with a party of 6. 4 having alacarte 2 having carvery. We were told it would be best for the 2 having the carvery to wait until the other meals arrived before stepping up for the catvery. This we did however when the other meals arrived the chunky chips that should have accompanied the steak appeared to have transformed into Mac Donalds chips! There was no meat left on the carvery there was the carcuse of a chicken and a piece of ham fat. We did consider turning vegitarian for the evening as there were lots of veg. I can not fault the duty manager on this evening as he was very appologetic offering us any meal from the menu free drinks including a bottle of sparkling wine plus a 20% discount on the total of the bill. He ensured us this was a 1 off problem with the carvery & invited us to return for the cavery.

3rd attempt! 2 of our party decided to give it another go. Oh joy NOT! 1 tried yet again to have carvery, 1 went alacarte. The same instuction given wait till other meal arrives then go for carvery. 45 minutes past. The person having cavery decided to go and get their meal meat was plentiful pity there was no veg!! At this point asked member of staff were other meal was? Only to be told it had not been put through to the kitchen's no meal on it's way!! At this point could not believe this was happening again was this GROUND HOG DAY or YOU HAVE BEEN FRAMED no such luck! At this point even though lots of appologies were forthcoming we decided enough was enough and left. Out of our 7 night stay in Rackheath attempted to eat 3 time at this pub and was very disappointed on all 3 counts. Would advise people to eat at the Green Man Rackheath a little more expensive but at least you get nice, well prepared food. .
